Okay, so on the subject of my subject line... Let's talk about something I went through the other day that made me NOT want to buy from someone online...
The simplest way to explain what I do is... I'm a digital marketer. I create and sell digital products. If you’ve been on my list long you know this is what I do and I do it in multiple
niches.
I'm also a customer of other digital marketers. I like learning AND it allows me to see what others are doing in their marketing.
So today I bought access to a masterclass that promises to help you improve your Spanish. I have enough of this kind of stuff, but this lady had her marketing ON POINT! Until I ordered from her... 🤦♀️
I ordered and was hit with what I thought was an upsell...
Ok... Cool... What else do you have that can help me improve my Spanish? If it's cuss words I don't need it because I can cuss you up and down in Spanish. 😆
Y'all... This lady who has gorgeous marketing pages, her marketing made me buy something I don't really NEED... Do you know what the upsell was?
First, it wasn't even an upsell really... It was a redirect to her affiliate link for a masterclass on how to get 100K
views...
Que????? 😲
(that's like saying WHAT? in Spanish... Told you I didn't need this thing she was selling me...😆)
So, we went from buy my product on learning Spanish to watch this other free masterclass on getting 100K views.
The math ain't mathing...
So, I wanted to take a second to remind my followers and students...
MAKE SURE YOUR
UPSELLS ARE RELATED TO YOUR INITIAL OFFER...
Now as a customer, I'm confused and feel a little weird about this lady. What is she trying to do here? If I wasn't in the Internet-marketing niche I would be like what the absolute heck is this, and I can almost guarantee that most of her customers are not marketers so she's going to have a ton of her customers with a "weird feeling" about what they just bought from her.
That's NOT what you
want when you acquire a new customer.
Now I'm not throwing shade at this woman. That's why I'm not naming her or showing any of her pages.
But, I DID want to take a minute and use this as a good point to make with my peeps, so I'm going to say it again...
MAKE SURE YOUR UPSELLS ARE RELATED TO YOUR INITIAL OFFER...
If you don't have something that is related to your front end offer, then
don't have an upsell or send people to SOMETHING in hopes you can make some more money. Upsells aren't JUST to make you more money. They should ALWAYS help your customer MORE by providing them with additional offers related to their initial purchase.
Don't be greedy... Think of your customers FIRST at all times and the money-will come!
